The
Liverpool/ White Point Golf & Country Club has been called one
of Nova Scotia's most scenic. This 9-hole course offers plenty
of challenge and panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean and White Point
Beach Resort. With the purchase of more land along the water and
the commission of renowned course designer Graham Cooke, they are thinking
of expanding to 18 holes sometime in the future.
Built in the 1930s by Donald
Ross, this delightful and testy nine holes is surrounded by the sights
and sounds of the ocean. White sandy beaches and spectacular views add
to the ambience and appeal of this little links-style course. The signature
par 3 third hole is a bunkered bowl of a green with a deceptively innocent
appearance.
Described by many members
and visitors as one of the most picturesque golf courses in Atlantic
Canada, it is also one of the most difficult courses on the South Shore.
The course is challenging for the avid golfer with small greens,
narrow fairways and strong sea breezes. The recreational
golfer enjoys the quality of the golf and the scenery that accompanies
it.
The course is a CPGA
rated nine hole course (6,200 yards from the blues, 5,860 from the
whites and 5,438 from the reds). There are six par 4 holes (five
for Ladies), two par three holes and one par 5 (two for
Ladies). The 144 yard par 3 number 3 hole has a bunkered saucer green
which is very difficult to hold.
