One
of Nova Scotia's newest golf courses, Osprey Ridge opened on May 16, 1998.
Designed by noted Canadian architect, Graham Cooke, Osprey Ridge offers
a unique blend of links and park golf and outstanding panoramic views.
The golf course has matured very well to date and is nearing its full
potential as a must play experience as well as gaining a reputation as
one of the top destinations for golfers in Atlantic Canada.
Osprey Ridge measures just less than
6600 yards from the back and 5300 yards from the front. The multiple tees
on each hole allow the golf course to match Cooke's belief that: "Golf
course design must capture and enhance the natural beauty of the land,
setting the stage for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy the experience
of play." The natural beauty of the land is also enhanced by the abundance
of wildlife found on the golf course. Deer, rabbits, foxes and over 50
varieties of birds have been seen at Osprey Ridge including its namesake
the magnificent osprey that nested in one of the three nesting boxes established
on the golf course.
The modern air-conditioned clubhouse
contains a fully stocked Pro Shop and locker rooms for members and guests.
Golfers are provided with a comfortable spot to reflect on the successes
of that game afterward. The dining room and lounge are both licensed,
as is the covered deck that offers a tremendous panoramic view of the
driving range and surrounding valley. Four of the courses' 18 holes are
visible from the deck including the ninth and eighteenth greens where
all of the final shots can be seen and enjoyed.
